How can we celebrate International Women's Day 2020?

How can we celebrate International Women's Day 2020?

International Women’s Day is this Sunday, 8th March. A global celebration of women's achievements and progress. murph&murph is a business founded and run by Catherine & Anna Murphy, two sisters/mothers. International Women’s Day means a lot to murph&murph. We decided to put together a list of 5 ways we can each make a difference this International Women’s Day.

1. GET EDUCATED, DO YOUR RESEARCH, BE INSPIRED

Visit the International Women's Day website and learn about this year's #EachforEqual theme. You’ll discover plenty of inspiring information and ideas. Who knows where a simple step like that might lead?

2. GET ALONG TO AN IWD EVENT

What better day than International Women's Day to get along to an event or meet-up and connect with other like minded people, or get involved in collective action and be part of something bigger than yourself? There are lots of great Women's Day events happening around the country. Here is one in Perth.

3. GIVE A GIFT THAT EMPOWERS WOMEN

Make a donation to support One Girl's education programs that seek to give girls and young women the opportunity to reach their potential through education.

4. GATHER THE WOMEN IN YOUR LIFE

Get together with some of your favourite women for breakfast, or afternoon tea. Share stories of your own achievements and those of women and organisations who inspire you.

5. ELEVATE WOMEN'S VOICES

Think about your own workplace, school or uni - and what it’s like to be a woman in that environment. Is there something you or you and a few friends could do to make things fairer, safer or more supportive for women? As they say on the International Women's Day website - 'we’re one drop but together we’re an ocean'.

So get out there - celebrate, mobilise, innovate - and have a wonderful and meaningful International Women’s Day this Sunday, 8th March 2020.
